RJ4All Welcomes New Chair of the Board

London, July 7

RJ4All is pleased to announce the appointment of
Dr Charlotte Fernandes as the new Chair of the Board, succeeding Cllr Nick Johnson, who has served as Chair for almost 6 years. This appointment marks a new chapter for RJ4All as it continues to pursue its vision of a world that embraces the restorative justice values of power-sharing, fairness, equality, dignity and respect, where power abuse is rooted out.

Nick worked closely with RJ4All’s Founder, Prof. Theo Gavrielides, providing critical support during a significant and successful period in RJ4All’s journey, including the establishment and growth of the RJ4All Rotherhithe Community Centre and the establishment of the RJ4All office in Cyprus. Drawing on his extensive experience across the charity, commercial and public sectors, he has helped strengthen the organisation’s governance, strategic direction, and community impact. We extend our sincere thanks for his commitment, guidance, and valued contribution over the past five years.

"I remember the day we took over the centre, when Nick and I first talked about how a community centre could deliver restorative justice services and become a hub of cohesion. Looking at how far we have come since then, with Nick's support, advice and leadership, is remarkable. Together we have envisioned the world's first restorative justice postcode here in SE16, London. As we welcome Charlotte, we do so with confidence in where the organisation is heading. Her expertise and her commitment to the people we serve make her a natural fit to lead our Board into this next stage."

Dr Charlotte, who has served on the Board and led the HR Committee, brings extensive expertise across education, forensic psychology, secure mental health services and organisational leadership. Her experience in developing innovative, evidence-led approaches to supporting vulnerable communities will help guide RJ4All’s next chapter.

"I am honoured to be appointed Chair of RJ4All and excited to support an organisation whose values of justice, inclusion, empowerment and community are so closely aligned with my own. My motivation for taking on this role comes from a deep belief that restorative practice has the power to transform lives, strengthen communities and create more compassionate systems. As Chair, my priority will be to help RJ4All continue to grow its impact, amplify the voices of those it serves, and champion practical, human-centred approaches to justice and social change."

At this important moment for RJ4All, the Board and staff team thank Nick once again for his dedicated service and leadership over the past five years and look forward to working with Charlotte as she steps into the role. Together, we will continue to grow our programmes, expand our geographical reach to support global restorative justice movement.

"It has been a privilege to chair this Board for the past five years and to watch RJ4All grow from a community centre with a bold idea into a genuine national and global voice for restorative justice. I am proud of what we have built together, and I could not be handing the role over to a better person. Charlotte's experience, integrity and commitment to the people RJ4All serves make her exactly the right leader for this next chapter. I wish her, Theo and the whole team every success."
