About the Pledge

Restorative Justice for All (RJ4All) is not just an international institute, but also a global social justice movement. Whether you are a staff, consultant, volunteer, internmember or just someone who believes in our mission, vision and values, you can join our restorative justice global movement now!

RJ4All followers believe that through the restorative justice values of power-sharing, equality, dignity, respect and involvement in decision-making, we can achieve better justice for all. We believe that the most persistent driver of inequality and community tensions is power abuse. Restorative justice can offer the methodology and the ethos to rebalance power.

In order to create a world restorative justice social movement, we introduced the “International Restorative Justice Pledge”. This initiative is directly linked with our long-term vision of building the world’s first restorative justice postcode. Together, the two initiatives can make the local global, and the global to learn from the local.

We invite you to sign up to the Pledge and join our world movement. In the words of Martin Luther King,“If I cannot do great things, I can do small things great”. So, let’s make a little thing great, by signing up to our little Pledge today and by allowing it to grow over the years and through the spirit of fraternity.

We also invite you to become an Ambassador of our programme of Building the World’s Restorative Justice postcode.

If you have any questions, suggestions or comments, please send them to admin@rj4all.org

The RJ4All International Restorative Justice Pledge

  • I believe that human dignity is sacred. I pledge to respect (and where I can champion) every person’s rights as these are outlined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
  • I do not believe that violence is the answer to inter-personal, inter-community or inter-state conflicts. I pledge to promote peaceful conflict resolution methods including the restorative justice dialogue.
  • I believe that every person independent of age or background is capable of transformation, integration, healing and restoration. I pledge to support restorative justice practices where appropriate and voluntarily selected.
  • I believe that harm is more than a crime and a violation of the law. It is a violation of relationships and the connection that we all share simply because of our humanity. I pledge to promote non-punitive methods to restore harm including harm to me, and harm that I cause to others in my personal and professional settings.
  • I believe that restorative justice belongs to communities. I do not believe that restorative justice is for the few nor just for those who can afford it. I pledge to promote restorative justice in an open, fair and respectful manner, and become an instrument of healing and compassion.
