About RJ4All

Restorative Justice for All (RJ4All) exists to prevent and address power abuse, whether at the individual, community or inter-state level through the ethos and practices of restorative justice. It was set up by Professor Theo Gavrielides, one of the world’s most recognised restorative justice leaders.

RJ4All’s projects and campaign work are rooted in the belief that the most persistent driver of inequality and conflict is power abuse, and that the bio-power that exists to prevent and control it is found in restorative justice communities. We apply restorative justice methodologies to empower them to address disadvantage. At RJ4All, we understand harm in a holistic manner and respond to it through positive, user-led methods.

We are recognised as one of the world’s leading experts in transferring complex criminological and social justice concepts into practice through real-life pilots, interventions, casework, training and community projects.

To achieve our mission, we have created three additional arms: RJ4All Publications (publishing arm), RJ4All Sports (fitness arm) and RJ4All Education (educational arm).

Our Legal Structure

RJ4All is registered in the UK as a 100% non-profit Community Interest Company. Although not registered with the Charity Commission, we operate exclusively for the “public benefit” as defined in the Charities Act 2011 and in particular: “The advancement of human rights, conflict resolution or reconciliation or the promotion of religious or racial harmony, equality and diversity” as well as: (a) The prevention or relief of poverty (b) The advancement of education, health, citizenship and community development, arts, culture, heritage and science (c) The relief of those in need.

RJ4All’s headquarters are in London, at the RJ4All Rotherhithe Community Centre and we have a sister organisation based in Cyprus, “RJ4All Europe”.

The RJ4All Vision & Mission

RJ4All has a vision of a world that embraces the restorative justice values of power-sharing, fairness, equality, dignity and respect, and in which power abuse is rooted out. We pursue this vision through the power of dialogue, education, sport and art, as well as through the practices of restorative justice.

RJ4All has a mission to address poverty and advance equality, community cohesion and human rights. We pursue our mission by delivering social justice and poverty relief projects, free skills-development programmes and educational programmes, youth clubs, intercultural and awareness-raising workshops, internships and high-quality volunteering opportunities.

Our Values & Programmes

At RJ4All, we are committed to creating a world where the fundamental values of restorative justice – power-sharing, fairness, equality, dignity and respect – are not just ideals, but lived realities.

We envision a world where the scourge of power abuse is eradicated, and in which every person’s rights and dignity are not only acknowledged, but actively protected.

Through our initiatives in the UK and internationally, we are dedicated to turning this vision into tangible outcomes.

International programmes

We implement projects in Europe aimed at promoting restorative justice values and practices. From preventing gender-based violence, countering extremism or restoring power in educational environments, our initiatives contribute to building more inclusive and just societies.

UK Initiatives

In the UK, we are at the forefront of the journey to establish the world’s first restorative justice postcode. Our Community Centre stands at the heart of this journey, building a stronger, more resilient community through a wide range of community-led activities and partnerships with local organisations.

Research and Advocacy

We conduct rigorous research to demonstrate the power of communities in addressing social justice issues and promoting positive outcomes. Through advocacy and education, we strive to raise awareness of restorative justice principles and advocate for their widespread adoption, particularly in policy development.

Training and Community Empowerment

Empowering individuals and organisations with the knowledge and skills to implement restorative justice practices lies at the core of our work. Through certified e-courses and capacity-building programmes, we equip changemakers to champion restorative justice in their communities.

Our Community Work: RJ4All Rotherhithe Community Centre

RJ4All also manages the RJ4All Rotherhithe Community Centre, which has become a hub of community empowerment in South East London. Our Centre offers a holistic approach to addressing poverty and community tensions through a range of services including:

  1. Casework bringing victims and offenders together through restorative justice
  2. Direct interventions with young and adult offenders as well as individuals at risk of violence
  3. Food-bank, Community fridge, “Food is Medicine” series, and Cook & Connect Workshop

  6. Free distribution of SIM card, mobile phones and laptops and digital drop-ins through Community Digital Hub and Library
  7. Youth Resilience
  8. Wellbeing Circles Café & Mental Health Hub

The RJ4All Centre also acts as a local “safe space” for anyone who wants to avoid conflict or abuse, pop in for a coffee, use our facilities or simply chat with our interns, volunteers and team.
